Coverage Levels at a Glance
When you look up a facility on HealthcareHub, you will see one of three insurance verdicts:
| Verdict | Meaning |
|---|---|
| ✅ Accepted — Full | Your insurer covers 100% of the service cost. |
| 🔶 Accepted — Co-pay | Your insurer covers ~80%; you pay ~20%. |
| ✗ Not Accepted | Your insurer is not in-network; you pay the full private rate. |
What is a Co-pay?
A co-pay (malipo ya sehemu) is the portion of the bill you pay when your insurer has a partial-coverage agreement with a facility. Typically 20% for NHIF members; varies by insurer.
Estimated Out-of-Pocket
The estimated out-of-pocket figure on HealthcareHub is calculated as:
- Full: TZS 0.
- Co-pay: ~20% × the average service price at the facility.
- Not accepted: ~100% × the highest listed service price.
This is a guide only. Confirm the exact amount with reception.
Why the "Confirm with Reception" Caveat?
Insurance agreements change. A facility that accepted your insurer last month may have renegotiated. Always confirm at the front desk before receiving any service.
